It's culturally taboo for men to smell too flowery.

Even though guys and floral fragrance go back thousands of years.

A 1200 BCE Mesopotamian clay tablet records a flowered perfume, written to be "fit for a king." Whereas the fragrance industry didn't market scent separately "for men" until Caron's Pour un Homme in 1934.

Let's play with gendered language and visuals the industry inflated power to, and treat modern marketing taboos with the historical insignificance it deserves.
